Easy chocolate recipe - Shortbread cookie recipe(Vegetarian) with step by step picutres

Before leaving Hyderabad I made this Shortbread cookie for my husband so that he can enjoy his time at home when I am not there with these chocolate cookies.It is real simple recipe and trust me for this that it tastes divine. 

Ok so the chocolate cookie recipe is simple and the reason being I don't like making tough things     especially in baking where I am still learning.

Also whenever I come home I clean up my fridge and most of the things which are perishable items so this recipe was the most appropriate thing which I could think off.It  just needs 4 ingredients .Unbelievable in cooking but yes it is true

So lets start with recipe

Ingredients:-

150 grams of fruit and nut Dairy milk chocolates ( You can use any chocolate which has fruit and nut)
1 cup butter (Salted .I used our vary own utterly butterly delicious Amul butter )
2/3 cups of powdered sugar
2 1/4 cups of all purpose flour(Maida)

Tip here is to just be specific with the quantity and chances of you going wrong will be minimum.

Method and Preparation.(Pictures heavy but I think you will enjoy them.So ready , steady and go .Mind going insane may be this is because of fasting   

Step1 - Whisk butter and powdered sugar .You can do this with a spoon.(It will be easy for you to do this if you take the butter at room temperature)



 Step2 - Add the mixture in a baking pan .Take a pan where you can get the thickness of the cookie of about 1 or 2 inch and no more than that.Now add the all purpose flour and mix all three ingredients with a light hand.Mixture will look like the picture below.



Step3 - Now press the mixture with a spoon or with your hand.

Step4 - Pre heat the oven at 170 degree or 325 F. Bake the mixture in a pre heated oven for around 30 minutes.It took me 30 minutes infact little more.Idea is that you get a golden brown layer on the top.Some of you might get the golden layer in 20 minutes also.Its all up to the oven and your thickness I guess.

Now when it is baked switch off the oven and sprinkle chopped chocolate in the dish and let it remain in the oven for 2-3 minutes more..This way you will not need to melt the chocolate or keep them at room temperature.Take it out from the oven and spread the chocolate all over with the help of a stapula or a spoon.


 Let it stay for a while and refrigerate it. Now when ever you want to eat it simply cut a piece out in any shape you want. .This can easily stay good for 10 -15 days I guess


   Do you see the gap in my cookie?Well there was a nut there and being a nutcase I ate that while clicking the pic  :D:D

I fell in love with the festival when I was in 6th standard and Kajol kept the fast in DDLJ....Since then I wanted to keep this fast :D

10 bright and shimmery make up tips this festival

With Karva chauth tomorrow and Diwali around the corner we all try to go slow with matte make up and pick up some shimmery eyeshadows. I remember trying to add some shimmery eye make up on myself and landing up looking like a girl who has taken a dip in a glitter bottle. Now I realise that shimmery or glittery make up doesn't mean that you are glittered up from head to toe.

 Below are some bright and shimmery make up tips which I follow and plan to follow during festival season or party which might help you out.


Smoky eye make up in gold


 1. After my cleansing and toning I start by applying few water based moisturizer. This is done by most of us but here come the trick. I mix my moisturizer with an skin illuminator. I rub it around my finger tip before applying it so that it is warmed up and gets absorbs in my skin properly.

 2.  Foundation make up - For a flawless application some mineral foundation (I use body shop) gives a flaw less look .If you want a long stay foundation for a party then Revlon colorstay foundation works well.

3.   Loose translucent powder  After the foundation apply some loose powder all over your face .If you use a large make up brush then use that , it helps in applying the right kind of powder on your face and add a touch of glow to your face.

4. Shimmery eye makeup –-  Use liquid eyeliner in silver, gold and copper. Liquid eyeliner pops out the eyes. if you are into colored mascara then you can really look sexy .One of my friend do that but I have never managed to try that out. Shimmery eye shadows and smoky eyes look great on festivals.

 5. You can even apply body glitter on your neck area .Only thing is one should not over do the things.

6.  Mascara - 2-3 coats of mascara adds lot of depth during the festive season.


7.  Beauty rule – Do not forget the beauty rule and that is if you are going with heavy eye makeup then go with nude lip and vice versa

8. Shimmery lip gloss and bright blushes or cream blushes are a great way to add shimmer and bright makeup to your look .If you want your blush to last long then check out the photo tutorial here.

9. Check out your favourite celebrities and how do they wear their make up in parties and festivals.

10.  Always match your make up with your jewellery and outfit. If you are wearing heavy  jewellery then don't wear loud lipsticks or eye shades .Try to be little subtle with your colors otherwise you may end up looking like your usual saas bahu serials vamp.

Face mask - Face packs for dry /oily skin this winter

For dry skin or normal skin

Face pack for dry skin to normal skin - Dry skin can cause a lot of distress during the winter. Using a face pack of mashed banana mixed with few drops pure honey can act as a natural cleanser and also soften the skin. Apply on face and  neck regularly, at least twice a week. 

Honey gives the skin with the moisture it needs. You may add glycerine too instead of honey in case you are allergic to honey. Or simply apply plain mashed banana.

Bananas contain potassium. They are ideal for people with sensitive skin too. It tightens and smoothens the skin lending it a youthful glow.


A pack made of  gram flour (besan) and milk cream will give your skin that healthy glow. Besan acts as a natural cleanser, removing dirt and  grime from skin while lightening skin tone.

I suffer from dry skin which would get worse in winters earlier. But using the above natural face masks has helped to a great extent.

For oily skin

Face pack for oily to normal skin - Rub a slice of ripe papaya all over face and wash off with tepid water after 15 minutes to cleanse and nourish skin. 

You could also apply a pack of gram flour (besan) mixed with a pinch of turmeric and rose water to brighten complexion. After 15 mins gently rub your skin with upward or circular motions to loosen the pack. This can act as a mild scrub and remove any stubborn dirt in pores. Wash off.
Turmeric has antiseptic properties and can reduce skin blemishes and brighten skin tone. But remember to go easy on the turmeric. You would not want to leave yellow stains on face!

Beauty tips

*Before applying face packs, wash face to remove any dirt or grime. You could even steam face for about a minute or two to open up the pores. This will help the skin to better absorb the goodness of moisturising treatment to follow.

*Always apply your daily moisturiser after washing off the face pack.

Eyeliner pencil are a quick way to brighten up your eyes when you are in hurry.They are a must have for working women as they never have this much of time and patience to use eye shadows even if they want to.

Colorbar i glide pencil eye pencil are loved by almost all of us because of various reason.I have Electra and Coco bar eyeliner pencil  with me and this time I thought of buying silver hue and the reason was Karva chauth and Diwali festival. I guess I always have reason to buy something or other.This is because I never think I splurge on unwanted things:D. 

Leaving beside my husband I am sure all will agree to me.



 Price of Colorbar i glide pencil is Rs 325 of 1.1 gm.I am glad they have not increased the price.


What the product claims - Extremely soft and outstanding smooth formula, almost like a liquid liner (I agree)

Easy to blend shortly after application (I agree)


Waterproof super long wear, No transfer and smudge proof (I agree)


So after agreeing in all the above points there was no reason why I won't buy them again.

Those who have small eyes can use it on their lower lash line or to make their eyes dramatic like Rekha then try this silver eyeliner.Though both ways it doesn't look good on me,  may be because I have dusky complexion and silver eyeliner looks very bright on me.If I use it as an eyeliner on my upper lash line it looks pretty nice.

So far this is the best eyeliner pencil in economical range.

My Mehndi design this Karva chauth

Hi  ladies!!!

I just got mehndi  design done on my hand.To avoid long queues I  went in this hot afternoon.Last year I was not able to get this done so this time I wanted to  feel special and  got mehndi designed on my feet too.

If you are located in a place where getting them designed is difficult then you can do it by yourself (this is what I was thinking of doing in Hyderabad as it  cost a bomb there) .I got both the hands and feet in Rs 400 .Ye yeyeyey!!!,Check out the post here
