This is my first article on Wise She & I'm very excited about it. Anamika, who manages WiseShe is a very dear blogger buddy for me, I'm not praising her just because I'm posting an article on her blog, but I swear she is one of those few friendly & sweet bloggers I have ever come across. Every time you ask her a query or a beauty tip & she replies at the earliest, I hope most of you agree with that.  I'm especially fond of her because she stays in Hyderabad which is my birth place & she has all praises for Hyderabad weather ;-) Just yesterday I was telling my Fiance that our sweet Anamika has mentioned my name in her post & how she remembers us even when she is on a vacation & today Anamika gave me an opportunity to write for her blog! I hope my stint with WiseShe is going to be wonderful for years to come! 

I have become an Oriflame consultant recently so this review is about this amazing Avocado foot cream from Oriflame that I bought.

 Benefits of Avocado:

It is high in sterolins, which are reputed to reduce age spots, help heal sun damage and scars. It is the sterolins (also called plant steroids) in the oil that helps to soften the skin and imparts a superior moisturizing effect

Avocado is frequently used in rich spa products because it's provides a rich source of vitamin A, B, D and E.

Avocado oil is easily absorbed into deep tissue, and with its wonderfully emollient properties, makes it ideal for mature skins. It also helps to relieve the dryness and itching of psoriasis and eczema. 

In earlier times, avocado pulp was used as a hair pomade (Pomade means Hairdressing consisting of a perfumed oil or ointment) to stimulate hair growth.

Pros of this cream:  I always applied Vaseline before going to bed for dry feet until I found this foot cream which has become an important part of my foot care regimen. This is a very moisturizing cream & gets easily absorbed in the skin. This is not a watery kind of cream but a rich cream that instantly moisturizes your feet, I made my FiancĂ© try this & he agrees that it gets easily absorbed & you don't have to massage much. This can be used before wearing your shoes or footwear when you are in a hurry to go out because this get absorbed in a jiff & is not Oily at all. This comes in a very attractive hygienic green colored tube & can be easily carried in a bag. The cream smells like mint (kind of smells like polo mint) & is not heavily perfumed. This is a small 75ML tube but I guess it will last at least for a month because a very small amount of cream is required to moisturize the feet. Though it says it has to be used overnight, but I use it during daytime whenever I see any dryness on my feet, so you don't have bother about wearing socks, you can just apply the cream & walk bare feet around the house.

Cons of this cream:  This cream is not available at any cosmetic stores, if you run out of the cream you will have to place an order & wait for it to arrive. 

Recommendation: Ladies, I will certainly recommend this. With winters approaching, this could be the best foot cream that you could lay your hands on & never regret it. 

People who are newbie in this beauty world could try this before going for the High-end brands.

Top seven workouts for weight Loss

Physical exertion is termed as 'exercise'. Physical exertion and  a balanced diet go hand in hand to maintain & reduce weight.

To lose the excess weight you need to tone up your body and get slim. This gives the body more energy and  keeps you fit.

You may opt for any one or a combination of the following workouts. Also consult your doctor on type of workouts fit for you based on your medical condition.
 Gym workout-
 You can either become a member of a reputed gym or set up one at home.
·         The most common one is the treadmill. Know its safety features before you begin. Initially begin at a slower pace. Beginners can hold onto to handrail until they get a hang of it. Then gradually increase to a comfortable pace. To stop reduce the speed until the belts stop. You can select the incline option but do not hold onto the handrails as it could lead to injuries. 

Treadmill is a simpler form to do a cardio.
·         Weight Training helps tone up the body. But they should be done under the guidance of a personal trainer till you get the hang of it. Also do not do weight training for more than 3 times a week. An important point to be noted is to bend your knees when you lift weight off the ground to avoid back injuries.

Swimming to lose weight

 This is a fun way to de-stress & lose that weight after a hectic day. Alternate between different styles of swimming. Swimming builds muscles while reducing weight. So many have complained they seemed to have gained weight after swimming! Nevertheless, it can be accompanied with other forms of exercises.

Dance aerobics  
: Aerobic exercise is a physical activity which requires your heart & lungs to work harder. Dance aerobics can increase blood circulation & lower cholesterol levels. They can range from low intensity to high intensity exercises. All sessions start with some warm-ups. Simply choose your favourite dance number & dance!

Beginners be sure to learn aerobics, swimming or workout at the gym under guidance from experts. They would be aware of the right postures or the type of workout that would best suit your physique.

Walking to lose weight

While some have benefited from dance aerobics many have not found much difference in their weight. I used to do dance aerobics earlier and  found a very slight reduction in weight. Then I switched to fitness walk & there was tremendous progress!

 To walk is a simplest, easiest & most effective form of aerobic exercise to lose weight & keep fit. This can be adopted by people of all age groups – young & old. Only difference would be the difference in the stride adopted based on one`s physical condition. All you need are a pair of comfortable walking shoes. This form of exercise can be adopted even when you are on a holiday. 

Walk for at least 30 mins initially & gradually increase the time to may be an hour. The body starts to shed those extra kilos only after the initial 20 mins. Walk in your own garden or in your neighbourhood park instead of place of heavy traffic.

Benefits of walking : Improves muscle tone, reduces blood pressure & bad cholesterol & conditions the heart. These are just a few out a host of other benefits!

Walking  or Jogging/Running

Experts are now beginning to caution against adopting jogging/running as a life time exercise. The body was not built for running and ; doing so will lead to injuries. The safest way is a brisk walk.
Start your walk at a slower pace and then increase to a brisk walk & back to a slow-medium pace as your near the end of your stipulated time. In case you want to walk after meals, do not do a brisk walk but instead a short relaxed stroll should be okay.

A correct posture is very important. Walk with your back straight, do not bend or lean forward and keep your eyes focused forward. Keep your arms relaxed andsway as per your body movements. Swing arms from your shoulders and not just the lower arm. Do not lift your arms above the shoulder level. Keep your elbows at right angles. Never drag your feet.

A morning walk will make your body gear up for the day ahead while giving you the required stamina and energy. An evening stroll is a time to think pleasant thoughts, sort out the events of the day and  find answers to any crisis. I tried it & I actually get a host of wonderful ideas when I walk!

Playing to lose weight

You can set aside Sundays or few evenings to catch up with your friends over a game of squash, shuttle, badminton. It is a nice way to unwind while toning your muscles. But remember to take necessary precaution (such as using the right equipments) to avoid injuries.

Power yoga to lose weight 


While traditional yoga helps to maintain weight it may not reduce weight. So power yoga is becoming popular. It involves a rigorous cardio workout along with the traditional yoga. It also incudes 10-15 mins of pranayam. 

Power yoga helps you rid of obesity, improves body flexibility, one`s posture & concentration.
Handy tip : Always learn from an expert instead of relying on readily available DVD`s.

Tips for thick eyelashes with mascara - Wise She reader question

Hi Anamika,

Can you tell me  a trick to make my  eyelashes look really long, thick and  black? Like what mascara? And any tips? Also how do you apply your eyeliner so it looks really dark?

Hi Seema,

I use this tip .I hope it works for you as well .

Apply a thin line of liquid eyeliner on your eyelid .You can use pencil too but liquid eyeliner brings out the best.It requires bit of practice but it doesn't take too long in learning this.

Don't go long with your eyeliner, just on the outer quarter of your eye lid because then it gives you an illusion then you have really long lashes.

With this use good quality brand mascara, When you apply mascara apply two coats of it straight one after each other.Let it dry and remove the  excess or the clump with a tissue paper.

Kareena Kapoor Marilyn Monroe look by Mickey Contractor

This is a very old issue of GQ India where Kareena Kapoor was seen wearing Marilyn Monroe inspired look.It is done by the great make up artist Mickey Contractor where he has tried to tone down Marilyn Monroe look. Instead of  bright red lips he has used very sheer  lipstick and has kept eyes shimmery and soft.

Mickey Contractor even kept the curls soft and have used semi- matte shades on whole look .

7 food to avoid during pregnancy

Hi ladies,

 Its been a while since I  wrote something on Wise She as I was quiet busy with my toddler and  now I have resumed back to my work too. I was trying to adjust to new changes which is certainly not easy .But when Anamika asked me to do a post on this topic I was all excited as my pregnancy was one of my best experience till date.

 A healthy well- balanced diet is important during pregnancy. Most fresh foods are safe to eat however there are some foods which should be avoided during pregnancy. As I have told you in my previous post what to eat in pregnancy I thought of taking up what not to eat this time.

Having variety of food every day is utmost importance during pregnancy but there are food which one should not eat that time

 Below are some of the foods which should be avoided during pregnancy.

 1. Raw eggs - Many raw eggs contains salmonella .Some salad dressing which have mayonnaise, homemade ice cream and custard should be avoided. It is best to avoid it rather than taking any risk.


2.  Soft cheese such as Feta, and brie should be avoided. There many other cheese also which shouldn't be eaten but as they are not easily available in India I didn't bother to know about them. Thing which should be kept in mind is that all cheese which is labelled as pasteurised is safe to eat. So do not forget to check the label before eating soft cheese.


 3. Raw and uncooked meat – Uncooked meat has high risk of listeria and salmonella poisoning.

 4.  Sea food – Refrigerated smoked sea food should be avoided for the same above reason.

 5.  Fish – Limit the fish intake to no more than two serving per week.


 6.   Unpasteurized milk and juices.


 7.   Alcohol and smoking – Many birth effects have been associated with alcohol use during pregnancy.

    P.S - I am not a doctor by profession and all the above food details was discussed with doctor during my pregnancy

The love for MAC eyeshadows can only be understood by those who are fond of make up.This is why there are so many fake and cheap MAC products in the market.I was looking for some specific colour for this Diwali which is not gold.(I guess  I had too much of it this year :D)

Price of MAC sumptous olive eyeshadow is Rs 650.

I have purchased MAC pro colour palette which is of Rs 800 so now whenever I will like any eyeshadow I will just buy the small eyeshadow and put then in my  refill pan.This way Rs 950 eyeshadow cost me Rs 650 and their is less requirement of space and its easy manageable too.




    What I  liked about the MAC cosmetic eyeshadow :-

    1. Nicely pigmented.

    2. Stays whole day on my eyes.

    3. This colour is quiet unique which is not easily available in many other brands.

    4. It can be used as a bridal shade , in festival and in parties too.Quiet subtle and sophisticated.

Nail art -  I recently purchased lot many nail paints but was not liking them on my nails because of the mehndi.My hands were itching to do something interesting and I came up with this golden nail paint which was lying with me since long.

So now I know that if you have mehndi on your hand then some of the colours like gold, red and dark pink goes well on them.Not that I didn't know this before but I thought gold is only for brides :D
