RN Inpatient – Operating Room Residency/Consortium

Day shift during residency. Shift may change to evening shift after completion of residency.
Monday – Friday.

Virginia Mason Medical Center is currently interviewing for RN Residency positions in the Operating Room. The residency will begin February 24th, 2011. This is a 17 week course that includes both classroom and clinical components (which includes 4 weeks of scrubbing experience.)

Required Qualifications:
* Current WA State RN license
* Proven ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team
* Completion of T.I.E.S/Service Training/ V.M.P.S prior to residency
* Agreement to work two years in the OR at VMMC after completion of the residency
* Ability to lift, push/pull, stand for extended periods and work in low-lighting procedures
* CPR certification
* One day observation in the OR required prior to acceptance into the program

Preferred Qualifications:
* Two years RN experience at VMMC
* Relevant procedural experience

The OR Residency is full time and requires the resident work 8 hour day shifts, 5 days/week (M-F). Time off will not be granted until the completion of the residency and more than 3 episodes of sick time may result in termination from the residency. Purchase of required text books and other supplies is the responsibility of the resident. Upon completion of OR residency the RN will complete 3 months of orientation and then start taking 2-3 night call shifts and 24 hour weekend call per month and 1 holiday shift per year.
