Job & Education Requirements:

Description
Be a vital part of the Kindred team by providing much-needed assistance to the Medical Staff: assign nursing care, administer medications, perform treatments and document procedures.
Responsibilities

* Document resident’s condition and nursing needs; assign nursing care to team members in accordance with person’s capabilities to provide resident’s needs
* Implement physicians’ orders; administer medication, perform treatments and document treatment as required by Kindred, and local/state/ federal rules and regulations
* Assist physicians with special tests and procedures within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act
* Ensure that supplies are used economically and equipment is clean and maintained in a safe manner
* Report and record observations and reactions regarding residents.
* Coordinate nursing care of residents scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments.
* Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in residents

Qualifications

* Must be skilled in directing, motivating and training staff; able to work cooperatively as a member of a team and react decisively in emergency situations. Should be an effective communicator with residents, families and staff members but able to maintain confidentiality. Requires a graduate of an accredited LPN/LVN School of Nursing with a valid state LPN/LVN license and CPR certification. One year of nursing experience is preferred.

Licensed Practical Nurse – Acute Adult

Description
Located on 14.5 park-like acres, Kahi Mohala’s 88-bed facility is Hawaii’s only private, freestanding psychiatric hospital. Kahi Mohala provides comprehensive behavioral health services for adults, adolescents and children experiencing problems with psychiatric disorders, alcohol and drug abuse, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, emotional disturbances and work of family relationship challenges. The buildings and grounds offer a complete residential environment with an emphasis on patient safety and security.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides specialized nursing care and direct supervision of psychiatric patients, assists in the collection of data for the nursing assessments, and follows plan of care to provide specialized nursing care.

Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse or Practical Nurse Program or otherwise qualified for Hawaii Licensure as a practical nurse. Must possess and maintain Hawaii Licensure as a LPN. Successful completion of an accredited pharmacology course is required. Prior experience in an acute medical/surgical or psychiatric experience required. Will consider applicants with less experience and new graduates who have taken the licensing exam. Must pass a written exam covering general psychotropic medication administration and medical terminology. Must understand psychiatric diagnoses and interventions. Must have knowledge of legal aspects of nursing and a thorough understanding of emotional and behavioral problems preferred. Demonstrated ability to function as an effective member of a team, administer medication, intervene in crisis situations. Must have a valid driver’s license.
