  1. Do you have Colored Dreams? - 2011-07-13 12:35:52-04
For anyone who sleeps, dreams will be there. But the thing is, are they in color or black and white? Seems like a question for TV geeks but seriously, it seems that dreams may come in color or black and white for people, if they can remember them that is. Apparently a journal called Dreaming asked some people about their dreams. 80% of the younger portion said they got colored dreams while the older ones either couldn't remember or had them in black and white. And since we did mention that this study seems to be somewhat connected to television, it looks like the study leaned more towards watching colored TV as the main reason. These days, all of us practically enjoyed colored TV sets. And if you think about it, the logic behind it may be the fact that the old folks were around when the era of black and white TV sets were around. 2. Sleep in an Underwater Bedroom - 2011-07-14 11:15:39-04
When traveling, a person would barely get some great sleep. However, give the hotels credit for trying to make your visit as recharging and delightful as possible. Just check out the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Hotel which over at the Indian Ocean offers a stunning underwater habitat that should change how people lodge and relax today. With their underwater setup, guests can look forward to a different but relaxing respite as you get surrounded by the nearby marine life over there. They provide a semi-circle for guests to relax and get a 180-degree view of the undersea inhabitants, most probably something that will be expensive to enjoy. Aside from being able to sleep soundly and differently, guests get a private bedroom for two, a fancy champagne dinner and a pampering breakfast in bed. So who says you cannot relax and sleep while abroad? 3. The Jawbone UP for better Sleep Tracking - 2011-07-15 13:43:40-04
To help track your sleep issues better, here is another health-inspired device that should help in the diagnosis of sleep issues. This is the Jawbone UP, a wrist-worn sensor bracelet that aims to help track movement and sleep patterns with the aid of a special app. The bracelet comes with an array of sensors that may include an accelerometer along with a battery inside the water-proofed housing. They come in blue and pink color schemes and can be connected through an iPhone. The app works by monitoring a person's movement and then works with an open platform. Somewhat similar to some gadgets from Nike, the Jawbone UP will be out later this year with prices and actual launch date yet to be made official. 4. An Intelligent Bed for People with Bed Sores - 2011-07-16 10:34:53-04
Staying or laying bed for longer spells will result into something called Decbitus ulcers or something that is commonly known as bed sores. This is something normal for bed-ridden patients who often have prolonged pressure to their skin for lying in one place for too long. And for this reason, a new type of bed comes out, aptly called the Intelligent Bed. The bed can reportedly imitate the movements of a healthy person during sleep, doing it by initially lodging the person's movements as they sleep. The frames of the bed are made from smart materials which can be easily adjusted as needed by the person using it. Swiss institute Empa developed the Intelligent Bed and is currently undergoing field tests in clinics and hospitals. The bed should be made available in Switzerland before the year ends. Leave it to hotels to do their part to help guests gain better sleep while traveling as Crowne Plaza Hotels takes the lead in introducing snore-proof rooms. The rooms promise to give guests better respite and sleep, made for couples who have sleep problems due to their partner's snoring and vice versa. A study revealed that half of the couples in the UK struggle to get a good night's sleep due to snoring partner/s but the new hotel rooms should address all that. The rooms feature sound proofing on walls to absorb the loud the frequencies, a special sound absorbing head board, an anti-snoring bed wedge which acts as a body pillow, an anti-snoring pillow which uses magnets and a white noise machine which is proven to help drown out the droning snoring noise and help sleep and relaxation.
